Planned and active works

Keep a look out for all the latest updates.

As part of the Link Road build, Luddon Construction have set up their second construction compound at Chalcroft Farm. As part of the works, the Chalcroft Farm track will be closed - access along the track will be for construction and development vehicle traffic only.

We are undertaking seasonal tree, hedgerow and grass cutting management works across the site. This involves cutting back seasonal growth of hedge lines, removing failed and damaged limbs, removing trees and branches that pose a risk and general maintenance works.

At the Lower Acre, the development's first residential parcel, we have commenced early construction works. Excavation and relocating the topsoil to a storage bund location within the parcel boundary and re-shaping the parcel site to new levels is now complete. In July 2023, our specialist borehole contractor, AWS Synergy, started work on the Lower Acre ground source heat pump network. Drilling 233 closed loop boreholes, between 100 and 120 metres deep. The Lower Acre is located adjacent to the Burnetts Lane roundabout at the Southern Gateway entrance. If you have a question about the works, please visit the Luddon Community site - link above.

Work to build the final phase of the Link Road connecting Burnetts Lane roundabout to the south to Allington Lane roundabout to the north started in Spring 2023. Luddon Construction have been appointed to build the road scheme and associated works. Work is expected to last until Spring 2025 and will be carried out in two phases. The local community can find out more about the scheme and follow the build on the Luddon community information site - link above. KEY UPDATES: Fir Tree Lane was permanently closed in May 2023. In June, Luddon's opened the southern compound. Road surfacing works commenced in October 2023 on the first phase of the new road. In 2024, Luddon added three bridges at Quobleigh Stream crossing, Foxwood Stream crossing, and Tollbrook Stream crossing. At the Allington Lane open space, also known as the northern part of the site, a viewing platform has been created to allow the community a safe viewing point to watch the future works. A southern viewing area, adjacent to the Lower Acre residential location, was also added. 2025 - Luddon Construction is adding the finishing touches to ensure the road is safe, efficient, and ready for all users to use this Spring. The plan is to complete the work by early March and open after any remedial work is completed, which could be a couple of weeks. We hope to confirm an 'open' day soon!
