Environment Overview

Environment, ecology, and sustainability are at the heart of the One Horton Heath development, and we're taking great care to protect and enhance natural features and wildlife habitats wherever we can.

We're aiming to improve biodiversity across the site, and through our partnership with trusted ecologists, we are well equipped to preserve natural habitats, green open spaces, and waterways.

Green infrastructure is also key to the development with a series of well-connected spaces, and we’re exploring new processes and technologies to build smarter and with less impact on the environment. Renewable energy sources, sustainable homes and pioneering wastewater reduction techniques are all key cornerstones of our environmental approach.

Allotments

Fresh air and exercise, the joy of an allotment experience cannot be underestimated. The history of the allotment parcel dates back many years. At One Horton Heath we are excited to continue the opportunity for individuals to rent a small parcel of land to grow food crops and more. On site, two community allotments with parking and electricity provision will be ready to welcome new allotment owners in the near future. We hope to open the first allotment area within the first years of the new homes being occupied.

Primary school

One of the most exciting phases on the development and a boost to the local areas education provision is the new learning facility located near the community hub. Currently in the early stages of development, the new primary school will be set across 6.9 acres (2.8 ha) and will include outdoor play facilities. The school is planned to open for the new 2027 academic year. The project team are busy working in close partnership with Hampshire County Council, the local education authority, to progress the schools design.

Sports field

The new sports field will house an all-weather artificial 9-a-side training football pitch. Measuring roughly half the size of a normal pitch, the 4.4-acre (1.8 ha) flood-lit surface will provide an optimum basis for active sports. What's more, at One Horton Heath we want our spaces to be for everyone to enjoy. That's why we are looking at how we can make the pitch available and accessible to everyone in the community.

Destination Play

Kids of all ages will enjoy a dedicated space for play. There is no question that we are committed to delivering a host of sports and community activity spaces and we are sure the creation of an entirely dedicated space of play for all ages, will become a hub of interest all year round for the community. Destination play is ideally located alongside the local centre offering opportunities for local people to use a wide variety of facilities which are easily accessed by the many footway and cycle routes. We are looking forward to working with the community on the play area design as the development moves forward.

Transport Overview

Transport, movement and access are fundamental components of One Horton Heath, and one of our key aims is ensuring that travel around the area is both efficient and sustainable.

We have already started to build new roads, cycleways and public footpaths to enhance and connect with existing travel networks in the area. Our new northern and southern gateway entry points to the development have transformed previous areas of farmland into habit rich native planted informal open spaces.

Sustainable transport is an important part of the development, and we're aiming to encourage green travel around the area by prioritising cycling and walking routes, public transport, and electric vehicle infrastructure.

The Homestal

Located in the centre of the northern half of the development, the Homestal borders the characterful grade II listed Fir Tree Farmhouse.
