The Lower Acre show homes

Local parish council representatives recently visited The Lower Acre at One Horton Heath to take a look inside the new show homes and hear more about the development’s progress.

On a sunny early evening, guests were given a tour of the homes, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions about what is being delivered at One Horton Heath, both now and as the wider development progresses.

The tour included a look at some of the spacious family homes and thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces at The Lower Acre, including landscaping designed with biodiversity in mind. Plants have been carefully selected to support bee corridors and provide colour and interest, with flowers and roses forming part of the planting.

The homes also offer a range of features included as standard, including fitted wardrobes, integrated kitchen appliances, flooring throughout, turfed gardens and generous patios. Energy-efficient features include ground source heat pumps, EV charging points and fibre broadband connectivity.

The first phase of The Lower Acre includes a wide range of two to four-bedroom homes and apartments, with further phases bringing additional house types and one and two-bedroom apartments. The mix will continue to respond to the needs of people on the housing register as well as what the housing market requires.

Questions during the tour also covered the wider plans for One Horton Heath, including the range of homes and tenures available, as well as the future local centre, allotments, play areas, green spaces, cycle routes and the comprehensive travel plan.

The Lower Acre will provide a mix of homes for private sale, private rent, Shared Ownership and affordable rent. Shared Ownership is a form of affordable housing, providing an option for eligible households who may not be able to afford to buy a home outright.

The Lower Acre is already attracting interest, with three homes reserved for Shared Ownership and three for private sale. Three affordable homes have also been allocated, with private rented homes expected to be advertised soon. The first residents are expected to move in from mid-October.

One Horton Heath’s commitment to infrastructure-first development also means that residents moving into their new homes will have the benefit of completed roads, lighting and footpaths, with safe and clean routes to move around the development from the outset, rather than moving into a traditional building site.

The tour also provided an opportunity to hear feedback from local representatives, with positive comments about the finish of the homes and what is being offered to buyers.
