Free community photography workshops
in Fair Oak and Horton Heath
Residents of Fair Oak and Horton Heath are invited to join professional photographer and artist Simon Bray for a series of free, friendly photography workshops exploring the places, people and stories of the local area.
Taking place across four Thursday mornings in November 2026, the workshops will explore how photography can help people share their perspectives and experiences of living locally, as well as their own sense of home and community.
What to expect
The workshops will give you the opportunity to:
- Learn new photography and digital camera techniques, including the basics of exposure and composition
- Explore ways of using photography to document your local area and create a portrait of the community, including approaches such as Photovoice
- Consider the past, present and future of the local area
- Share your own photographs, memories and stories
- Contribute to an upcoming local photography exhibition
You don’t need any previous photography experience and all abilities are welcome.
Digital cameras will be provided, although you’re welcome to bring your own. Refreshments will also be available.
