Horton Heath primary school plans submitted

Plans for the new primary school in Horton Heath have now been submitted, marking another key milestone in the delivery of the new community.

The planning application includes a three-form entry primary school for around 600 pupils, together with sports pitches, community sports facilities and allotments. The application is expected to be determined in November 2026.

The proposals have been developed by architects Re-Format, working as part of the wider consultant team led by Peter Marsh Consulting (PMc), in close collaboration with Eastleigh Borough Council, Hampshire County Council and education specialists. The school has been designed to grow alongside the community, providing flexible learning spaces alongside facilities that can also be enjoyed by the wider community.

Earlier this year, residents and stakeholders were invited to view the proposals and share their feedback during a public consultation. The event was well attended, with positive engagement and a range of valuable comments received. The project team has since been carefully reviewing the feedback, with the responses helping to inform the proposals now submitted for planning.

The school is an important part of One Horton Heath’s ‘infrastructure-first’ approach, ensuring education and community facilities are planned alongside new homes as the neighbourhood continues to grow.

The project team is now preparing tender documentation ahead of contractor procurement, with the appointment of a contractor anticipated in spring 2027, subject to the necessary approvals. Delivery of the school will align with the phased occupation of new homes within the development.
