Inspiring future builders at
Eastleigh College

The One Horton Heath (OHH) team joined forces with Wates Residential and City Brickwork to visit Eastleigh College, part of the South Hampshire College Group, to shine a light on the exciting careers available in construction – with a special focus on bricklaying opportunities at our Eastleigh development.

Bricklaying Level 1 and 2 students took part in an engaging session exploring what a career in bricklaying really looks like. From daily life on site to career progression, and even insights into earning potential.

Our speakers, Katherine – Social Value Manager at Wates Residential, and Phil and Aleksanda from City Brickwork, shared their own experiences and advice for success in the trade:

“Be keen to learn, be reliable, be on time, and strive to perfect your craft.”

The session also emphasised the importance and longevity of skilled trades like bricklaying – a profession in high demand and one that “won’t be taken over by AI” any time soon!

Both OHH partners are currently offering either apprenticeship roles and work experience placements, providing fantastic opportunities for students to take their first steps into the industry.

If you’re inspired to be part of the One Horton Heath project, now is the perfect time to get involved…but hurry, work applications are closing soon!
