Easter food & essentials donation drive

Following the success of our Christmas food drive, colleagues from One Horton Heath, Eastleigh Borough Council, and our Lower Acre builders, Wates Residential, came together once again to support local families through the OHH Easter Food & Essentials Donation Appeal.

This year’s appeal expanded to include everyday essentials alongside Easter treats, helping to provide support to households ahead of the Easter period.

A wide range of items was collected, including food staples, toiletries and Easter goodies, all of which were shared with The Food Centre and Eastleigh Basics Bank.

The Food Centre in Hedge End, established by Kings Community Church, is a volunteer-led initiative that supports individuals and families experiencing financial difficulty by providing access to food, toiletries, and additional support. Emergency assistance is available on Mondays (10:00–13:00), alongside a Food Pantry on Thursdays (10:00–12:30), which offers a more structured, longer-term approach, including advice and access to low-cost food options through a weekly pantry scheme.

Eastleigh Basics Bank, based in Eastleigh town centre, was established by local churches to provide support to those facing financial hardship. Now over 15 years on, the service continues to be entirely volunteer-led, with more than 60 volunteers helping it operate four days a week.

This appeal forms part of our ongoing social value commitments with Wates, supporting the local community and helping those most in need. Thank you to everyone who donated.
