Upgrades to Path: Bubb Lane to Hedge End railway station

Upgrades progressing on the Hedge End Train Station Path

(Correct as of 28 May 2025)

The path connecting Bubb Lane to Hedge End railway station is currently being upgraded to a three-metre-wide shared-use foot and cycle path, complete with new lighting for additional safety.

Latest Progress

Bubb Lane to the Park - This section is now complete. Mildren is currently awaiting the arrival of the mechanical and electrical sub-contractor to install new lighting columns and cabling. Once this is complete, the final layer of tarmac will be laid.

Park to the Pond - Approximately 95% of this section is finished. Only a few service ducts remain to be installed, which require on-site support from SGN due to the crossing of the high-pressure gas main. Once these works are complete, the M&E contractor will return to install lighting, followed by final surfacing.

Pond to Hedge End Car Park - Around 90% of this section has been completed. The team is awaiting further tree clearance to facilitate flood mitigation measures. Following this, the remaining bridge-to-car park segment will be completed, and then passed over to the M&E and surfacing teams for the final touches.

The contract for this project was awarded to Mildren, a Dorset-based contractor with over 30 years of experience. Their approach continues to be well-coordinated with low disruption, aiming to make the upgraded path safer, more accessible, and more user-friendly for all users.
