Upgrades progressing on the Hedge End Train Station Path
(Correct as of 28 May 2025)The path connecting Bubb Lane to Hedge End railway station is currently being upgraded to a three-metre-wide shared-use foot and cycle path, complete with new lighting for additional safety.
Latest ProgressBubb Lane to the Park - This section is now complete. Mildren is currently awaiting the arrival of the mechanical and electrical sub-contractor to install new lighting columns and cabling. Once this is complete, the final layer of tarmac will be laid.
Park to the Pond - Approximately 95% of this section is finished. Only a few service ducts remain to be installed, which require on-site support from SGN due to the crossing of the high-pressure gas main. Once these works are complete, the M&E contractor will return to install lighting, followed by final surfacing.
Pond to Hedge End Car Park - Around 90% of this section has been completed. The team is awaiting further tree clearance to facilitate flood mitigation measures. Following this, the remaining bridge-to-car park segment will be completed, and then passed over to the M&E and surfacing teams for the final touches.
The contract for this project was awarded to Mildren, a Dorset-based contractor with over 30 years of experience. Their approach continues to be well-coordinated with low disruption, aiming to make the upgraded path safer, more accessible, and more user-friendly for all users.
