The Eastleigh UKSPF Community Cooking Project is tackling food insecurity and the cost-of-living crisis with MUNCH, a social enterprise dedicated to empowering communities through cooking.
Eastleigh Borough Council commissioned MUNCH to help local families gain skills and confidence to prepare nutritious meals from scratch and on a budget whilst reducing food waste. To support the programme, Wates - our ‘Lower Acre’ contracted builder at One Horton Heath, kindly purchased £500 worth of MUNCH cookbooks for those following the course. Furthermore, all the profits fund MUNCH Cooking Clubs, further supporting community learning. Win-win! Wates also volunteered at recent MUNCH events at the Velmore Community Centre, Eastleigh and Pilands Wood Community Centre, Bursledon, and have further plans to support local groups and projects.
MUNCH’s involvement in Eastleigh’s cooking project is a major step toward healthier lifestyles and food security. Through workshops, resources, and community engagement, this programme aims to help people cook with confidence while making a lasting impact.
