Social Value Week 2023 Round-up

Social Value Week 2023 Round-up

The project team and supply chain partners joined the Social Value Leadership Group in April 2023 to showcase, discuss and celebrate Social Value.

The successful week saw a host of activities take place and is one of several initiatives being undertaken by the team in 2023.

Working with young students

Matt Johns, Director at Johns Associates, joined Lea Hampton during Social Value week to discuss a future micro project for young local students interested in conservation work and opportunities through local school talks to raise awareness of the role of an ecologist.

Routes Skills Centre kitchen build

The team at Ridge volunteered at the Routes Skills Centre, onsite at One Horton Heath, to design and build an outdoor kitchen for students. Over the course of two days the team worked in partnership with the centre to build the exciting new break-out area for the students to enjoy.

Community schemes

In spring 2023, Baden Powell Scout and Guide Lodge in Hedge End will benefit from a 4.5KW solar panel kit being installed by One Horton Heath contractors Ecogen. In 2022, Ecogen completed a major project at the Councils Solar Farm onsite.

About the Social Value Leadership Group

Eastleigh Borough Council joined the Social Value Leadership Group (SVLG) in 2022.  The group is made up of Housing Associations and Local Authorities. One Horton Heath Social Value   At One Horton Heath, we are unlocking social value outcomes through our supply chain contractual commitments. Every contractor and consultant on the project commit to give back a minimum of 0.5% of the contract value in social value outcomes.

Here are some examples of outcomes that have been achieved with our consultants in the first year of the project that are helping to upskill and benefit the local community:

 - Work experience placement

 - T level placements

 - Supported internship placement

 - Mock interview, job role videos and presentations and careers fairs in schools

 - £7K donation and installation of solar panels to a local scout & guide group in Eastleigh

 - Professional volunteering of services onsite at One Horton Heath through the Routes Skills Centre
