Residents comment on new junction proposals

Local residents have been commenting on potential improvements to junctions that will be affected by the proposed One Horton Heath development including improvements to the Allington Lane/ Fair Oak Road/ Sandy Lane/ Blackberry Drive junctions.

As well as the proposals being published on the Council’s planning pages for review and comment, the Council’s Planning Department has also written to residents directly affected by some of the proposed works to ensure everyone has their chance to respond to the consultation.

A review of some of the comments already made as part the consultation process has highlighted a few issues regarding proposed junction improvements to the Allington Lane/ Fair Oak Road/ Sandy Lane/ Blackberry Drive junction. So when looking at proposed junction improvements please keep in mind the following:

- The proposals are not fixed; we’re consulting on these plans so we fully understand the implications. We’re keen to hear comments that may improve the proposals or raise concerns that may have been overlooked.

- The proposals do not show a “No Right Turn” arrangement at Blackberry Drive – this is not something the Council supports.

We are committed to doing all we can to help ensure we address potential traffic issues in the future and as a result we acknowledge that the proposed junction improvements are extensive. The Allington Lane/ Fair Oak Road/ Sandy Lane/ Blackberry Drive junctions have had issues with congestion for many years and so it is imperative we act now and take this opportunity to implement the right improvement scheme that will ensure pedestrian, cyclist and vehicle safety and alleviate future capacity issues. We are taking the time to prepare and consult upon junction proposals and encourage residents to give us their views to ensure the right outcome will be delivered.
