Civil Engineering student Jacob joins the One Horton Heath project team for a summer work experience placement
Since 2021, One Horton Heath has been ensuring there are pathways in place for young people to gain skills and employment in the workplace through the development’s own project team or wider supply chain. Jacob, a local resident and Civil Engineering student at Derby University , has joined the project for the summer to learn more about the different teams and skills that contribute to a project like One Horton Heath. This has included spending time with contractors on site, including Luddon Construction working on the Link Road, as well as Hope & Clay and SPEEDECK Foundations on Lower Acre.Kevin Bunday, Head of Delivery for One Horton Heath said: “We were really pleased to be able to offer this opportunity to Jacob to experience work at One Horton Heath with our team and a variety of contractors. The development allows lots of opportunities for learning and experiencing careers in construction, so it is great to have local people like Jacob taking an interest in One Horton Heath and engaging so well during his time with us.”
