Improved Hedge End station pathway reopens

Improved Hedge End station pathway reopens

We’re excited to share that the improved pedestrian and cycle path between Bubb Lane and Hedge End Railway Station reopens from Saturday 26 July 2025, supporting our mission to enhance connections in and around Horton Heath.

What’s new?

  • The path has been widened to 3 metres, offering a shared space for walkers, cyclists, buggies, wheelchairs, and mobility scooters.
  • This upgrade improves safety and accessibility, making it easier to commute to and from the station as a more sustainable option.
  • The improvements are part of a wider programme of infrastructure works being delivered by Eastleigh Borough Council through the One Horton Heath scheme. The path works have been delivered by Mildren Construction.

Lighting update

While the path itself will be fully open, the new lighting columns are awaiting connection. We expect the lighting to be operational very soon, and we’ll update residents as soon as this work is complete. The path remains open, and travel is encouraged during daylight hours. The lights will be operational as soon as connection works are completed in the coming weeks.

We thank residents and commuters for their patience during these essential works, and invite everyone to make use of the upgraded path for safe and sustainable journeys.
