Exploring Careers in Construction

Thinking About a Career in Construction?

At One Horton Heath, we’re not just building homes - we’re building opportunities! Our trusted construction partner, Wates, shares our passion for supporting the local community by encouraging careers at any stage of life, with a focus on construction. As we develop the Lower Acre site together, we’re committed to creating as many learning and employment opportunities as possible for local residents.

Exploring Careers in Construction

The One Horton Heath team have been working with Wates to actively engage local schools, colleges, and job seekers to showcase the diverse career paths in construction.

From attending career fairs and hosting educational workshops to speaking at school assemblies, we’re also looking to demystify common misconceptions about the industry.

Recently, at Barton Peveril’s Careers Day, students discovered a wide range of job roles in construction, including office-based careers – such as marketing and legal, project management, and environmental roles, not forgetting more traditional hands-on trades such as bricklaying and carpentry.

For adults considering a fresh start in construction, Wates also offers back-to-work schemes, training, and interview coaching to build confidence and ease the transition into the industry.
