Horton Heath link road reaches milestone with work to get underway on final phase of construction following planning approval

The next phase of the all-important road through One Horton Heath is set to get underway in early 2023 following planning consent granted in September this year.

The 1.2-mile road will see the route wide connection into Burnetts Lane roundabout to the south and Allington Lane roundabout to the north, creating the southern and northern access routes into the site.

Once complete the new road will include:

  • A new 30mph speed limit along the dual carriageway between Allington Lane roundabout and Burnetts Lane roundabout.
  • Three new junctions to access the sites future residential and commercial areas.
  • New cycle and pedestrian facilities along the route to allow for safe travel.
  • Bus shelter provision for a new bus route connection.
  • New drainage and street lighting along the route.
  • 700 trees alongside 1000’s of native shrubs planted.
  • Ecological benefits for wildlife to include mammal tunnels and habitat rich planting.

Infrastructure first

Putting in the roads and services ahead of the new homes is part of the Councils infrastructure first drive. Alongside the link road construction scheme, work will continue on the £100m site-wide infrastructure delivery programme.
