Wyvern College students get a taste of life on site

A group of Year 10 and 11 students from Wyvern College visited the One Horton Heath development this week for a behind-the-scenes look at life on a live construction site.

With the sun shining, the students explored parts of The Lower Acre phase, gaining first-hand insight into the different stages of development and asking plenty of questions along the way.

It was clear many in the group already have their sights set on a future in construction, with strong interest in careers such as carpentry and electrical work – often inspired by family connections and the opportunities these trades can offer.

Safety remained a top priority throughout the visit, with all students fully equipped in 5-point PPE, including hard hats, safety boots, protective eyewear, gloves and high-visibility clothing.

Visits like these are a key part of our combined commitment with Wates Residential, to creating social value and helping to inspire the next generation, showcasing the wide range of rewarding careers available within the construction industry.
