The Avenue link road opens
We are pleased to announce that the newly constructed road, The Avenue, is now open for public use – a key milestone in our infrastructure first approach to development.
Councillor Keith House, Leader of Eastleigh Borough Council, said:
“This opening marks a much-anticipated key milestone in improving local connectivity, providing a vital link between Fair Oak, Horton Heath and Hedge End, and helping to ease congestion in the area.”
Please note that The Avenue links to a live construction site, so we ask all road users to exercise caution and be extra vigilant, as construction vehicles will still be moving around the area.
Did You Know?
• Length of The Avenue – 1.2 miles of new road connecting Burnett’s Lane South to Allington Lane North
• Key features – Two new roundabouts, dedicated footways, improved access for cyclists, and additional tree planting
• Bridges & wildlife – Five new bridges – three for vehicles and two for pedestrians and cyclists – featuring mammal tunnels and bee bricks to support local wildlife
• Infrastructure first – The road was built ahead of the new homes to improve traffic flow and manage construction traffic from the outset, a forward-thinking approach that sets the standard for future development
We look forward to seeing the benefits this new route will bring to the community and the local transport network in the future.
Stay tuned for further updates as we complete further phases of the development along the route.
