Advanced notice: Quobleigh Weir works

From Tuesday 5 May, works will take place at Quobleigh Weir near the One Horton Heath development.

Part of the riverbank in this woodland area has become unstable following previous damage. These works will remove the affected section and restore the bank to a more natural, stable condition, with additional support using stone-filled gabions.

The works are expected to take around two weeks and will be carried out by the Eastleigh Borough Council’s engineering team. Previous repairs were undertaken in 2022; however, further deterioration means additional work is now required to ensure the area is safe.

Protecting wildlife

Protecting local wildlife remains a priority. Ecological checks will be carried out ahead of works, including surveys for protected species such as great crested newts. Where possible, parts of the existing structure will be retained, as they are being used by species including bats and otters.

What this means for residents

  • Temporary access restrictions will be in place around the weir during the works
  • There may be some noise, kept to normal working hours and minimised where possible

We appreciate your understanding while we carry out these essential works to make the area safe and ensure it can continue to be enjoyed by the community.
