Social value support strengthens
Friday Night Football in Botley
As part of our social value delivery in the Borough of Eastleigh, with contracted builders of The Lower Acre phase (Wates Residential), we have provided essential sports equipment to support the ongoing delivery of Friday Night Football at Botley Recreation Ground.
The donated items, including footballs, bibs, cones, bags, and first aid kit supplies, are supporting a long-running community programme that provides young people with regular opportunities to be physically active in a safe and structured environment.
“The donated equipment has made a real difference to our Friday Night Football sessions, helping us deliver safe, high-quality activity and provide a positive experience for the young people who attend each week.”
Rich, Lead Coach, Friday Night Football
Friday Night Football is delivered by Wrightsports and runs for 49 weeks of the year. The informal, facilitated sessions are open to young people aged 10–17, allowing participants to turn up, pay a minimal fee, and enjoy playing football with friends. The sessions provide a safe and welcoming place for young people to be active on a Friday night, in a structured environment that supports positive use of their time.
“The new footballs, first aid equipment and session kit have improved how the sessions run and given us greater flexibility in how we deliver activities.”
Rich
Paul from Wates Residential was recently invited to attend a usual Friday Night Football session alongside Rich, Lead Coach of the programme, to see how the donated equipment is being used and the positive impact it is having on participants.
This contribution is one of several social value activities linked to The Lower Acre phase at One Horton Heath. Read more about other community projects on our news page.
