A summer of site preparation works at Chalcroft Farm and Fir Tree Lane

A summer of site preparation works at Chalcroft Farm and Fir Tree Lane

This summer, as part of phase 1 of our demolition programme, nine buildings across the One Horton Heath site are set to be carefully dismantled in order to prepare the areas for future construction.

The largest of the clearance works will take place over an eight-week period at Chalcroft Farm towards the southern part of the One Horton Heath site. Contractor Hughes and Salvidge will be dismantling seven former agricultural buildings at the location.

At a similar time, contractor Wessex Demolition and Salvage will carry out works at the other two locations: a dilapidated house and a timber bungalow, both situated along Fir Tree Lane.

Additional efforts are being made to ensure that specific materials and features are retained so that they can be incorporated into future development. As much suitable material as possible will be reclaimed and set aside for future reuse or recycling.

Speaking about the works, Estates Manager Rory Watson-Newman said:

“This is an important milestone in preparing the site after an extensive planning and preparation process. Once complete, we will see some valuable changes to the landscape with materials being disposed of or repurposed appropriately.”

The remaining phases of demolition and remediation will be implemented over the next two years.
